Carly and Danny | The Barn

My first wedding of the year took place on one of the hottest days in May and it honestly couldn’t have been a more perfect start to the season. Carly and Danny tied the knot at The Barn - a gorgeous, rustic little venue tucked behind The Rose and Crown in Welwyn, Hertfordshire and it was one of those ceremonies that just felt perfect from start to finish.

Everything about the day was beautifully relaxed. From the natural décor and soft lighting to the small group of just 20 or so guests, there was such a chilled, intimate vibe. Even the other suppliers had that same easy energy - they were perfect to work with!

Carly and Danny’s two lovely children, Harrison and Isabella, were part of the ceremony too, which made it feel even more special and personal. Carly was walked down the aisle by her stepdad Raymond to The One by Kodaline (cue the tissues) and you could see how much this moment meant to everyone in the room.

During the ceremony, I got to share their story which, alongside the loving moments, had more than a few laughs. Carly and Danny first met in a pub as teenagers, thanks to a little matchmaking from best man Steve (who also stepped in as one of their witnesses). Carly’s first impression of Danny? Well, let’s just say it wasn’t exactly glowing, but clearly, he won her over!
Danny knew Carly was the one when she kept agreeing to see him, even though, in his own words, ‘it took me a long time to grow up’. That pretty much sums them up. They’re total opposites in many ways - Danny’s the football-loving, go-with-the-flow type of guy, while Carly’s the organised planner who could definitely live without Spurs in her life! But it works. Their differences don’t divide them, they balance each other out.
They’re also brilliant parents, completely in sync when it comes to raising their kids.

Whether it’s school runs, trips to the park or just the everyday chaos of family life, they’ve built a home full of love, laughter and teamwork (with the occasional dream of some future alone time!).
Of course, no relationship is without its funny moments. One of my favourite stories was about the time Carly had just had her hair done and, on a romantic trip to Somerset, a rogue seagull came along and completely ruined her look. And yes, Carly is still hoping that one day Danny might mix things up with his own ‘I’ve-had-this-forever’ hairstyle!

There’s no grand proposal story to share. Just a moment where Carly pointed out a venue she liked to which Danny responded, ‘We’re getting older, why not just get it done?’ Simple and totally them.
After the vows, they signed a wedding certificate with Steve and Debbie as witnesses and we wrapped up the ceremony with the same easy energy it started with. There was laughter, love and a real sense of happiness throughout the whole ceremony.

Carly and Danny’s day reminded me that weddings don’t have to be big or flashy to be beautiful. Sometimes, all you need is a gorgeous setting, the people you love most and a whole lot of heart. These two had all of that and more.
Here’s to the newlyweds and to a future filled with love, laughter and maybe a little less Spurs (sorry, Danny!).
